Sue Marostica is a native to Idaho, whose family has been involved in ranching and logging in Idaho for five generations. She and her husband Vic, have raised two daughters and two nieces that have held numerous queen titles in the Treasure Valley and was instrumental in developing the original Snake River Stampeder’s performing at the NFR in Las Vegas and the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Sue is the Secretary/Treasurer for Back the Blue Idaho, and is owner of Gold Buckle Services and Gold Buckle Farm. As a 4th generation Idahoan she has many years experience in promoting community events

Sue developed Gold Buckle Champions while at the Idaho Cutting Horse Association, to help promote our western heritage and keep our values alive for another generation.

Sue has served on the board of directors for Miss Rodeo Idaho, the Eh-Capa Bareback Riders, and District II High School Rodeo, and maintains several websites and several equine publications producing articles about Idaho, horses, and our western heritage.

She is currently the Executive Director for Gold Buckle Champion, dedicated to furthering the education of equine health and safety, while preserving our western heritage and history by promoting equine events that incorporate the youth and community.
As the ED for Gold Buckle Champion, she has helped develop several scholarship and reward programs for the youth;

    • “Legends in the Making” is a rewards/scholarship program to teach our youth life skills that they can use in everyday life. They earn points that they can later buy scholarships and other merits in an auction.
    • “Gabrielle Sanborn Youth Memorial Scholarship” for youth who participate in equine events.
    • "Art of Building a Community" to promote creativity in our youth for solutions for our tomorrow.
      Developing Gold Buckle Champion as a non-profit came naturally with all the rewarding projects that she has worked on in the community.

Position Description: Gold Buckle Champion Executive Director

Founded in 2011 Gold Buckle Champions… to further the education of equine health and safety, while preserving our western heritage and history, by means of promoting equine events incorporating the youth and community. We do this by involving several dedicated volunteers and a staff that has a passion for serving the community and youth of the valley.

Position Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for Gold Buckle Champion Nonprofit's staff, programs, expansion, and execution of its mission. She will initially develop deep knowledge of field, core programs, operations, and business plans.

Responsibilities Leadership & Management:

• Ensure ongoing local programmatic excellence, rigorous program evaluation, and consistent quality of finance and administration, fundraising, communications, and systems; recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve the strategic goals
• Actively engage and energize Gold Buckle Champion Nonprofit volunteers, board members, event committees, marketing, culinary committees, partnering organizations, and funders
• Develop, maintain, and support a strong Board of Directors: serve as ex-officio of each committee, seek and build board involvement with strategic direction for both ongoing local operations as well as for the national rollout.
• Lead, coach, develop and retain Gold Buckle Champion Nonprofit's high-performance team (staff).
• Ensure effective systems to track committee progress to assigned tasks, and regularly evaluate program components, so as to measure successes that can be effectively communicated to the board, funders, and other constituents

Fundraising & Communications:

• Expand local revenue generating and fundraising activities to support existing program operations and expand to new events/projects.
• Deepen and refine all aspects of communications—from web presence to external relations with the goal of creating a stronger brand

Planning & Events:

• Use external presence and relationships to garner new opportunities
• Design the local expansion and complete the strategic business planning process for the program expansion into new markets
• Begin to build partnerships in new markets, establishing relationships with the funders, and political and community leaders at each expansion site
• Be an external local and national presence that publishes and communicates program results with an emphasis on the successes of the local program as a model for regional and national replication

  • Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation.
  •  Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage, and develop high-performance teams, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget.
  • Past success working with a Board of Directors with the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships.
  • Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.
  • Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to business planning.
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
